Moving On Wisely

Spiritual maturity is about knowing when to keep going and when to let go—because, honestly, even our souls need a seasonal closet cleanout. Life moves in seasons, just like nature does: some are for holding on, and others are for letting go, preferably before our emotional junk drawer turns into a museum. Real strength isn’t about clinging to everything like a stressed-out octopus; it’s about getting in step with God’s timing. In Hebrew, “to throw away” means letting go of what no longer helps. That’s wisdom, not failure—and maybe the most important decluttering project we’ll ever do. The world tells us to keep collecting more, but Scripture reminds us that growing spiritually often means letting go, both on the outside and within. That could mean releasing habits, expectations, or hurts that get in the way of God’s purpose—even the ones we’ve been carrying around like prized souvenirs. When we recognize these seasons, we can trust that our security isn’t in what we hold on to, but in surrendering to the One who guides us through every season of life, including the ones where we’re not quite sure what we’re doing.

“A time to gain, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away.”
