In 1957 they named this little mountain “Heart Mountain”. Shaped like the perfect Valentine Heart, Heart Mountain is a mountain located in the Bow Valley, Alberta, right alongside the Trans Canada Highway. It is ranked at the number 961 highest peak in Alberta and 3,230 in Canada. It is very visible from the highway but the best view is from Exshaw to the north and across the river.
I think a name change to “Mount Valentine” would be more romantic and attract lovers from all around the world! It would also be more touristy and maybe you could build a tram to the top, erect a chocolate factory and sell candy! Sky is the limit!
But failing all that, an excellent moderate hike to the top. Round trip 10km and allow 3 hours up and 3 down. More info here.
Remember, February is also “Heart” month. Help make death wait!
And finally a very Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
