There is not a lot of historical information, that I could find on this big impressive hunk of a metal bridge, other than it was built in 1892. No doubt built to transport fuel from the mines over to the main line for the Canadian Pacific Railway coal burners.
Today the Engine Bridge and track grade is part of the Canmore trail system. It is nice to see that the town fathers have saved this structure from demolition and put it to good use.
The local kids use it to cool off!
This old bridge serves as a great prop for wedding shoots, not only catching some good history but the backdrop of the mountains makes it a hot spot.
