Time is short! North Yungas road in Bolivia is known as “Death Road” for all of the reasons you’d guess. Classed as the most dangerous road in the world. The road seldom gets any wider than 10 feet (3 meters), and many crosses stand as memorials to those who have perished there. Nearly 300 drivers were killed here every year. Taken on our 1997 Bolivian venture!

“The bad news is that time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”

Time, a concept that has fascinated humanity since the dawn of civilization. It is an intangible force that governs our lives, marking the moments of our existence and shaping our understanding of the world. In the pages of the Holy Bible, we can find profound verses that shed light on the significance of time and its role in our spiritual journey. These verses not only provide guidance but also offer solace and wisdom in the face of life’s fleeting moments. Let us explore seven significant Bible verses and their contextual meanings, all within the framework of the King James Version.
1. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 – The Appointed Time
“To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up…”
These verses from the book of Ecclesiastes remind us that every aspect of our lives has its own appointed time. They serve as a reminder that the events in our lives occur within the divine order of God’s plan. Just as the world goes through seasons, so do our lives, with each phase serving a purpose.
2. Psalm 90:12 – Numbering Our Days

3. James 4:14 – Life as a Vapor
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
This verse from the Epistle of James vividly portrays the transient nature of our existence. Just as a vapor quickly dissipates, our lives on earth are fleeting. It reminds us of the fragility of life and the need to live with purpose and an eternal perspective.
4. Ephesians 5:15-16 – Redeeming the Time
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time because the days are evil.”
These verses urge believers to live wisely, making the most of every opportunity presented to them. It emphasizes the importance of being intentional with our time and making choices that align with God’s will in a world marked by moral challenges.
5. Romans 13:11-12 – The Urgency of the Hour
“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.”
In this passage, the Apostle Paul urges believers to be mindful of the urgency of the times and remain spiritually alert. It serves as a call to awaken from spiritual slumber and embrace the light of salvation, understanding that the time of Christ’s return draws near.
6. Galatians 4:4 – The Fullness of Time
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.”
This verse speaks specifically about the fulfillment of time when God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. It emphasizes the divine timing of Jesus’ appearance, demonstrating God’s perfect plan for the redemption of humanity.
7. 2 Corinthians 6:2 – The Acceptable Time
“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
In this verse, the Apostle Paul reminds believers of the present opportunity for salvation and reconciliation with God. It stresses the importance of seizing the present moment and not deferring the decision to follow Christ, as the time of salvation is now.
