“Though the Bible was written over sixteen centuries by at least forty authors, it has one central theme—salvation through faith in Christ”. ~ Max Lucado

Jesus Christ is central to the entire Bible. It unites around the revelation of him as the Son of God. He is also the Saviour and Redeemer. The Bible’s main purpose is to unveil Jesus—his life, teachings, death, and resurrection—forming the foundation of Christian belief. Every book in the Bible points to him through prophecy, hints, fulfillment, or direct teaching.
The Old Testament lays the groundwork for Jesus through prophecies, symbols, and key events. For instance, Genesis speaks of a Saviour who will overcome evil (Genesis 3:15). Figures such as Abraham and Moses foreshadow Jesus’ coming. The sacrificial system indicates his ultimate role as the sacrifice for sin. The Psalms mention his suffering and reign (Psalm 22, Psalm 110). Prophets such as Isaiah speak of the Messiah who will offer salvation and healing (Isaiah 53). Each Old Testament book builds hope for the one who will reconnect people with God, preparing for his arrival in the New Testament.
The New Testament continues from the anticipation built in the Old Testament. It shows Jesus through his birth, ministry, and saving work. The Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—tell the story of his life, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection. Each Gospel has its own focus. Matthew shows how Jesus fulfills Jewish prophecy. Mark highlights him as a servant. Luke points to his compassion and humanity. John stresses his divine nature as the Word made flesh.
The book of Acts and the letters from the apostles follow the accounts of Jesus’ life in the Gospels. They show Jesus’ impact. They also depict the growth of the early Church. Acts tells how Jesus’ life and message changed his followers and gave them the courage to share the gospel. The letters from Paul, Peter, James, and John explain what Jesus’ death means. They describe how his resurrection empowers believers. Through faith in him, believers are made right and renewed. This progression leads toward the Bible’s final vision in Revelation.
The Bible builds on the growth and teachings of the earlier books. It ends with the book of Revelation. In Revelation, Jesus appears as the victorious King and Lamb. He returns to create a new heaven and earth. Revelation reveals God’s plan, completed, with Jesus as the central figure forever.
Throughout the Bible, Jesus fulfills prophecies, connects to key people and events, and reveals God’s plan to save. His central role is as Son of God, Saviour, and Redeemer. This role shows the Bible’s unified story. It points to him as the source of hope, salvation, and eternal life.
Every Bible book highlights a unique aspect of Jesus’ character and mission. We have chosen 66 verses—one for each book—that show his presence in Scripture and encourage reflection on his significance. Jesus is central to all Scripture, fulfilling roles like Messiah, Redeemer, and Son of God. The Old Testament prophecies are fulfilled in the New Testament, showing His lasting impact. In every book, He brings hope as the creative Word, sacrificial Lamb, loving Redeemer, just Servant, miraculous Teacher, and eternal King. Embrace His story and its importance in our lives, inspiring hearts with grace.
